This is the second time we present Lorenz book “Journeys to Lost neighbors. The Jews from Wiesmath” to the Library of Yad Vashem – this time the English version.

Last time we presented the German version to Yad Vashem on July 17, 2018.

This time Lorenz and his wife Hedwig were present and also Moti and his son Ohad –

descendants of Holocaust survivals, mentioned in the book. Also, Servas friends attended: Ilana, Tal, Shlomi, Claudia.

It has been such a moving meeting with the Library’s manager Dan Tzahor.

Lorenz’ book details the stories of descendants, following his research about the Jews who lived in his childhood village before the Holocaust.

Lorenz told us about the descendants who attended the meeting:

“Moti’s father Herbert Jaul/Yoel was born in Wiesmath in 1922 (class mate of my mother; he already died in 1986). He and his Cousin Ernst Jaul/Yoel left Wiesmath and could legally emigrate to Palestine in 1939 (some months before WWII), his elder brother Siegfried had already been „smuggled“ there in 1938. All three „boys“ fought against the Nazis serving in the Jewish Brigade.”
