במהלך חודש יוני 2025, אשתי ואני זכינו לבלות שלושה שבועות בפולין.
במקור תכננו לבלות זמן קצר יותר, אך עקב מלחמת איראן-ישראל בת 12 הימים, טיסת חזור בוטלה ונאלצנו להישאר עוד כמה ימים. לא חיפשנו אירוח ללילה בטיול הזה, אך יצרנו קשר עם שלוש נשים נפלאות בפולין ששימשו כמארחות יום נדיבות עבורנו. גודל טוב ליבן ריגש אותי מאוד. טיול זה התמקד במעין "טיול שורשים" כדי להעמיק את הידע שלנו על כמעט 1000 שנות ההיסטוריה היהודית בפולין, לאתר קבר של אב קדמון ולבוא במגע קרוב יותר עם שני אתרי השואה, כמו גם עם עבודתם המעוררת הערצה של פולניות ששומרים באופן פעיל אתרי זיכרון יהודיים בפולין. אולגה, איבונה וברברה, כל אחת בדרכה ובזמנים שונים, פתחו דלתות, יזמו רעיונות וליוו אותנו למקומות ולפרויקטים שלא היינו מבקרים בהם אלמלא הן. חלקנו ארוחות, רעיונות והמון טיולים, ברוח המיוחדת של סרוואס – הערכה הדדית, התרבויות, ההיסטוריה והניסיון שלנו. שוב, אפילו אחרי שהייתי חבר סרוואס במשך יותר מ-15 שנה, אני תמיד כל כך נלהב ממה שסרוואס מייצג ומוכיח את עצמי בכל פעם שאני מבקר במדינה. המסמך הבא בעברית: .

During the month of June 2025, my wife and I were privileged to spend three weeks in Poland.
Originally we planned for a lesser time away but due to the Iran-Israel 12 day war our return flight was canceled and we needed to stay an additional few days. We were not looking to be hosted overnight on this trip but did reach out to three wonderful women in Poland who acted as generous day hosts for us. The extent of their kindness moved me greatly. This trip focused on a "roots trip" of sorts to deepen our knowledge of the nearly 1000 years of Jewish history in Poland, to locate a grave of an ancestor and to come in closer contact with both Holocaust sites as well as the admirable work of Poles who are actively preserving Jewish memorial sites in Poland. Olga, Ivonna and Barbara, each in their own way and at different times, opened up doors, initiated ideas and accompanied us to places and projects which we would not have visited if it were not for them. We shared meals, ideas and lots of walking around, in that special spirit of Servas- appreciating each other, our respective cultures, history and experience. Once more, even after being a Servas member for more than 15 years, I am always so found of what Servas stands for and proves to be each and every time and country visited.
