Over 40 members of Servas Israel met on a rainy, cold day in Abu Ghosh, to meet and get to know the place.

We were hosted at Hinam – the Center for Social Tolerance, we heard about their goals and projects, and listened to Amitai, our host, playing and singing a Yemeni / Arab poetic song.
He accompanied us to the Crusader church and the Benedictine monastery,

where Tova told a story about the place and its history, and Shlomi played the recorded singing of Brother Olivier, inside the halls with the special resonance. Ruthi joined the initiative with a song from Mass, and Meir with wonderful excerpts from our songs in Hebrew. Next, we visited Samer in her home.

Samer is a Muslim woman from the village, who shared her life and decisions for independence and personal freedom. Back to the Hinam center, Yaffa shared with us Servas experiences in Finland, related to the visit to the monastery, we ate a joint meal with delicacies that everyone brought, and sat down for the annual general Assembly of the association.

Nurit chaired the meeting, Nirit recorded the minutes, Claudia presented the activity report and the financial report, Israel presented the audit report. After voting on the reports and selecting the incumbents, as required, we heard suggestions from members, which mainly touched on the continuation of our social activities.

It was an interesting and exciting day, with hope for more meetings this year.

The members of Servas Israel identify with the residents of Ukraine in general and members of Servas Ukraine in particular, and with anyone who suffers in the various countries because of the war in Ukraine. It should be noted with great appreciation all Servas members in the countries bordering Ukraine who came to help
