Tour of Jordan Valley – 16 October 2021
Servas Israel continues to tour Israel – this time in Jordan Valley – on Saturday 16/10/2021, organized by Reuven from Haifa.
We visited and learned a lot about the places and historical events of the area: The story of the Valley train at the historic train station at Zemach; The story of the paratroopers who left for Europe in World War II and the Piper disaster during the ceremony in memory of the paratrooper from Kibbutz Maagan who did not return from the operation; The story of Degania A. first settlement in Umm-Juni; The visit to the Island of Peace and the Rothenberg power plant in Naharaim
including on the Jordanian side; The picnic on the Island of Peace; and at the end of the tour – The story of Naomi Shemer in Kibbutz Kinneret.
Thanks to Reuven who organized and guided, thanks to Nurit from the Events team, and thanks to all 25 members who participated. We are all waiting for the coming tour in the area.

ביקרנו ולמדנו רבות על הישובים והמאורעות ההיסטוריים של האזור – סיפור רכבת העמק בתחנת האכת ההיסטורית בצמח, קבוצת הצנחנים שיצאו לאירופה מקיבוץ מעגן במלחמת העולם השנייה ואסון הפייפר במהלך הטכס לזכר הצנחן ממעגן שלא חזר מהפעולה
סיפור התיישבות דגניה א׳ באום-ג׳וני, ביקור באי השלום – מפעל החשמל של רוטנברג בנהריים – כולל בצד הירדני, פיקניק באי השלום
בסוף, ביקרנו בחדרה של נעמי שמר בקבוצת כנרת
היה יום ערכי מהנה, שמחכה להמשך
