Servas Israel “Friend brings friend” meeting – South region, at Kibbutz Nir Oz, on Saturday 7 September 2019. Edith wrote:

It is said that man is the pattern of his native landscape. At our regional meeting, I met warm, broad-minded people like the landscape they chose to build their home.

An intimate meeting (total of 11 people) – we heard from Ran, a member of Kibbutz Nir Oz, who worked as a gardener since the establishment of the kibbutz (1957) until two years ago, about his work as a gardener and his research and experiments in the field of water-efficient plants, requiring little care over time. He eventually created a beautiful, flowering garden that is also water-efficient and requires less work relative to other gardens in the area and compared to the gardens in the north.

Equally interesting and exciting was our meeting of Servas friends, with stories of each one’s occupations and the way they came to Servas and to Negev desert.

It was a real “friend brings friend” meeting – and it was exciting to meet friends who left Servas and now want to come back.

It is definitely advisable to have such meetings in different regions of the organization.
